About Us

MioGima Support Hub is an innovative service company that endeavors to breathe life into existing small business enterprises and communities, facilitating sustainable and responsible development through capacity building and financial aid across Somalia. Our primary objective is to bridge the gap between humanitarian assistance and development by offering comprehensive support services to micro and small business enterprises, microfinance institutions, and agricultural enterprises. In the rapidly evolving global marketplace, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) stand as the cornerstone of economic growth and innovation, particularly in developing regions such as East Africa. Recognizing the immense potential and challenges faced by these enterprises, MioGima has formulated a strategic plan to empower and guide them through the digital age and the often intricate landscape of governmental processes.

Our Vision

At the core of MioGima's vision lies the aspiration to serve as the guiding force that propels businesses toward self-reliance and conscientious development. This vision is underpinned by a mission to bolster the organizational resilience of SMEs within the East Africa ecosystem. Our strategy involves providing holistic support, fostering connections, and promoting synergistic collaborations. Central to this strategic endeavor are specific objectives that revolve around empowering digital entrepreneurship, streamlining governmental processes, and facilitating financial inclusion. In the ever-changing global marketplace, SMEs have emerged as the bedrock of sustainable economic growth and innovation. Renowned for their agility and resilience, these enterprises play a pivotal role in job creation, driving innovation, and enriching the economic fabric of societies.

Our Mission

Our institution, MioGima, is actively engaged in providing training and business development support to SMEs in collaboration with microfinance institutions and insurance companies. We have established a partnership with the Danwadaag Farms Cooperative to bolster resilience in smallholder farming systems. Danwadaag operates as a farmer-member controlled system, with legally registered entities managed by farmer boards elected annually. The associations are grouped by geographical location to provide management and operational support in terms of production, marketing, and community development. Some of our main activities include reforestation, fodder production for livestock, climate change adaptation techniques, utilization of technologies and heavy machinery in farming for quality production, water management for farming, livestock, and household usage through the construction of water reservoirs with dam line and implementing drip irrigation techniques.

Our Work with Sesame

Sesame marketing and business in Somalia hold significant potential, as sesame is a highly sought-after crop in the country. It can be considered a cash crop due to its unceasing demand in the market, both domestically and internationally, owing to its various valuable benefits, including different oils such as clear oil. Regarding oil extraction methods, two approaches are commonly employed for food production and other purposes. The modern method, which swiftly grinds laurel or quintal, is highly suitable for efficient production, yielding favorable attributes such as pleasant odor and purification. On the other hand, the traditional method, though still used in some locations, involves grinding oilseeds manually. For instance, instead of quintal, a 100 kg oil mill produces 48 liters of oil and 50 kg of flour per liter. The number of oil grinding machines has increased since efforts were made to enhance the conventional camel-based approach. Currently, there are estimated to be more than 35 such facilities.
